I suddenly feel as though balled melon has been avoiding me my entire life. Because I have rarely indulged in it.

Jon, your life with melons is about to change, because i am whirling into new york city, with my melon baller! soon! and maybe i'll bring a fabulous california melon with me. i had an afghan melon at the farmers market, like a cross between the best cantaloupe and honeydew you've ever eaten, but the size of a giant pumpkin! enough to keep me and my melon baller very busy.
i think a melon ballers keeps the melon juicy in some mysterious way, too. and don't forget a squirt of lime juice, so good on almost any melon.
