"Yesterday I made udon noodles with Japanese food writer Emi Kazuko and we kneaded them with our feet (we put the dough in plastic bags first). Emi says this is traditional and she looked very dainty doing it. I did not look dainty — but she pointed out that since my feet were much bigger, I could knead more dough!"
